Tradition: UK Basketball

So I love a good J.Crew skirt and a pedicure as much as the next girl but I am also proud to say that I live for March Madness. As you know, I'm from Lexington, KY where basketball is a way of life. I grew up two blocks from Rupp Arena and I will bleed blue till the day I die. Where I'm from, basketball is religion and March is the time when it all comes down to the wire.

It's killing me to be away from home (in Tennessee of all states!) while the tournament is going on and especially while the Cats are doing so well! It's crazy to see how a community can really come together to rally behind a group of kids. Whenever I see a Kentucky shirt while I'm in Memphis I always get excited!

Although I am so happy that I go to the school that I do, I truly miss Kentucky sports. I have such great memories of basketball games with my family when I was younger. There are videos of my cheering for the Cats holding a pom pom in one hand and an American Girl doll in the other. I've had a foam finger on the bookcase in my room ever since I can remember and I still sleep in an outdated 7 National Championships shirt.

The Comeback Cats are at it again this season and I've been loving it from 6 hours away. I'm breaking my cardinal rule tomorrow and wearing a t-shirt to class but I couldn't not rep my team after those two upsets this weekend! That blue and white pride is pretty hard to hide and admittingly, I'll be on edge until the Final Four game on Friday!

Anyone else a secret basketball junkie?!

Go Cats!

Lusting after Lilly

This past weekend was Mom's Weekend for my sorority. Unfortunately my mom wasn't able to make the trip but it really has been great to be able to see everyone else's mothers! I feel like I always see the "school side" of people so it truly is special to be able to meet everyone's parents and it's really neat to see the immediate connection them all. I hope in twenty years all of the moms and daughters will still be able to meet up once a year and have brunch together. I can picture it now!

Yesterday, we sponsored a luncheon for all of the Moms. It was a time for them to come, grab a bite to eat and mingle with everyone. These types of brunch meet-and-greets are something that I really miss when I'm at school. Apart from yesterday I can't tell you the last time I've been to one but frankly, I love a good luncheon. Tea sandwiches are one of my favorite things in the world and more importantly, I love dressing up for a luncheon. First off, I think dresses are the way to go. A conservative sun dress is a must for any girl's closet and I am a firm believer in this. Whether this is a simple J.Crew shift dress or an Anthropologie Maxi dress, the style is your choice, but having that go-to dress that you could wear "to see your Grandmother" is a definite necessity.

For me personally, Lilly Pulitzer brings back so many good memories of spring. Every Easter my mom would buy "Mommy and Me" Lilly dresses. She would have the colorful shift and I would have the matching loose A-line, little girls version. It really was adorable and of course my daughter will be running around in those one day too! For me, Lilly is an understated celebration. It's classic, conservative, feminine and fun. It's truly the epitome of Southern style. It's horse racing season, mother-daughter tea, Easter Sundays and luncheons. At school I don't have any of my Lilly dresses with me because I haven't seen a need to keep them here before but I was really regretting it yesterday. With flowers blooming and a Mom's meet-in-greet I was flashing back to Mommy and Me days in those brightly printed dresses.

I jumped on the website and fell in love all over again. Here are some of the one's that particularly caught my eye. I am totally obsessed with the Lexington dress! (Fine, that's partly because it's the name of my hometown but mainly because it's absolutely adorable!) I mean… Easter is just around the corner, I think that's excuse enough to add another one to my collection!

Saturdays in Spring

The picture above is exactly how I am planning on spending my day today. The sun is shining and the temperature is supposed to be in the 70's! Hallelujah! I wrote a post earlier this week about the finicky spring weather but I am 100% wearing shorts today.

One of my favorite things to do is to lay outside. Not necessarily to get a tan (I'll still take it) but to just enjoy the breeze and the Vitamin D! This is something that my mom got me hooked on as a little girl and I've loved it ever since. When I was little we'd go out into the backyard with a large Mexican blanket and a pitcher of lemonade and lay there for hours.  Even if it's just for an hour it's so relaxing! Some sweet tea, a good book, a mexican blanket and happy tunes make for that perfect afternoon.

How do you plan on spending your Saturday?

Friday Finds: A Netflix Guide!

Today's Friday Find is honestly the last thing I need as a chronic Netflix-er. If I have any kind of guilty pleasure it's definitely Netflix. I love when I have those few minutes at the end of the day when I can turn on my computer and fire up one of my favorite tv shows! And honestly, there is nothing more relaxing than a Saturday afternoon Netflix marathon!

My current problem is that I've gone through two of my absolute favorite shows. I finished Gossip Girl a few months ago and it truly was a sad day. Call me caddy but it's really my favorite. Between the fashion and the friendships it's an easy watch and who wouldn't want to be Blair Waldorf?! Even more recently I finished Grey's Anatomy. Yes, yes they do still make shows but without a tv at school all I can do is wait until more are posted on Netflix. Bummer.

Lately, I've tried out a few shows hoping to find one that was going to fill in the gap. As of now I've got nothin'. I started watching New Girl because, let's be honest, who doesn't love Zooey Deschanel but I was a little underwhelmed. I loved her awkward and quirky character with impeccable pattern mixing skills but I just wasn't hooked. On the other hand, my boyfriend is obsessed with the Walking Dead but I'm not stepping anywhere near that one!

So I'm back to square one, lost without a tv show until VOILA! I came across this article!

I absolutely loved this! Just find your personality type and look at the shows that suit your taste!

Here's what I got:

I'm really going to have to check out Orange is the New Black. I've heard a lot of great things about it! Despite those orange jumpsuits being the exact opposite of my favorite Gossip Girl threads it looks like it might be right up my alley! Also, when I saw the description of Guilty Pleasure you bet that one caught my eye!

I'll keep you posted on how my search goes! What are some of your favorite shows right now?

I'll still always be a Blair Waldorf girl,

What to Wear for Early Spring Temps?

Don't get me wrong, I am so thrilled that spring is here! The weather is just starting to warm up and the trees are getting ready to bloom however this awkward temperature that we're in right now is so difficult to dress for! Here in Memphis, the morning starts out in the low 40's, rises to high 50's around noon then drops again to the 40's by 5:00. Getting dressed in the morning has been a struggle to say the least! It's too chilly to wear a skirt without tights but I feel like we should be done with tights by now! I absolutely refuse to drag them out of the box in the back of my closet and now I'm stuck. Seeing as I'm a primarily "skirt" girl, I'm having major difficulties.

My solution to these mildly warm but still brisk temperature is layering. It's prime weather for a light jacket and a sweater tucked into your purse. I start out in the morning with a jacket, peel it off for lunch and throw it on again when I'm heading back from the library at night. It's a bit of a pain carrying the extra piece around but as long as I'm comfortable all day long I'm not complaining!

Here I put together 4 different layered looks perfect for any day. I stuck with pants because (I'm not lying) I refuse to wear tights in spring. Maybe I'm a little stubborn but I've got my eyes set on warm weather and I'm not looking back. All of these casual looks are perfect for the breezy temps  with small pops of color they keep me in a springy state of mind!

Walk the Dog

I'm going to have to do a post on this J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket. It is the
newest addition to my wardrobe and it is absolutely perfect. The texture and
weight is great for brisk transition seasons and the cool style goes
with literally everything!

Outfit to School 1

I love the combination of a tailored pant with a zippered hoodie. I always drag mine along to the library because you can never estimate what the temperature is going to be in there! I've also become obsessed with Herschel Supply Co. backpacks. They flash me back to first grade and I'm definitely digging it.

Grocery Style

Army green is my current favorite color in my wardrobe. I love its contrast with orange and hot pink and the green paired with a stripe is my absolute favorite combination. These fitted pants provide another edgy alternative to the every day jean with the same comfort and casual style.

Outfit for Class 2

The white jeans are out and girlfriend they are here to stay. I'm easing them into the season by pairing them with some warmer accents. The chambray shirt curbs this summery look and the waffle knit sweater keeps me warm while the season is warming up.

All layered up,

My Busy Week Go-To's!

Recently my life has been a mess of emails, work, meetings and general running around. Well, maybe that's always my life but even more recently it feels as if I've been so much more go-go-go! I don't think hustle is such a bad thing but maintaining your style can really suffer. These are the kinds of days where I skip the elaborate face of makeup and the perfectly planned layered threads and look towards my Go-To's. I'd define Go-To's as those items that never let you down, we all have 'em! Here are some of my recent, busy week grabs!

1. J.Crew Keeper Chambray Shirt (here)
This shirt is my absolute ultimate Go-To. I bought a slightly oversized version in order to get that "boyfriend" feel and more comfortable and casual look. My easiest outfit is throwing this shirt over a pair of fitted pants and I'm good to go in a quite literally "effortless" look. It's one of my best layering pieces, going great under a vest or sweater and looks put together when tucked into a skirt or loose over a pair of pants. Love love love this shirt and it was so worth the regular-priced-J.Crew splurge.

2. J.Crew Minnie Pant (here)
These pants are also one of my greatest investments in my wardrobe. The stretch twill gives the pant enough structure to give your legs a flattering fit but also has enough stretch to feel like you're wearing a pair of leggings! These are another piece that can be worn with just about anything. These pants make a button down or even a simple t-shirt look like a million bucks and on days where you're time to get dressed is crunched these are an obvious pick.

3. Leopard Print Flats (here)
A comfortable pair of leopard print flats are my recommendation for every girl's closet. I definitely consider a great leopard print as a neutral. I love the combination of stripes and a print. It's one of those mixes that give an outfit that extra bit of an edge and spice up a simple pair of jeans and a white top. Comfortable, is also a key word here. A day of a cheap pair of flats can really cause some major blisters. Investing in a better brand is so worth it and will return in the long-run when you're still rocking these babies a year after you purchased them. Knowing a trusty pair of comfortable shoes are a definite necessity for my closet.

4. Warby Parker Finch Glasses (here)
So I'm definitely a turtleshell-aholic. And once again, I would consider this, "print" if you will, a neutral. Nothing says prep like a turtle-shell accessory am I right? If you wear glasses it's key to find at least one pair that will match any outfit for those days you need to run out the door without contacts and without thinking of the color that will match those navy pants.

5. Essie All-In-One (here)
You might think this one is a little odd for a Go-To but this is truly great for those hectic weeks. Sometimes it really is hard to maintain the upkeep on your nails when you're constantly busy and chipped nails are definite no-no. Essie all-in-one is the best way to maintain healthy and professional nails throughout the week. It's also great to give your nails a little love every once in a while and a break from the constant painting. Let your nails breathe and give them a strengthener while you're running from meeting to meeting!

6. Longchamp Le Pliage (here)
A total must. I really can't say enough about the worth of this bag. For travel, school, overnight carry-all and as a casual day-to-day tote it truly does it all. The fact that it can fold up  is amazing for quick trips when switching from a backpack to and from class. It's classic cool style goes with absolutely everything and believe me the room reminds me of Mary Poppins! It can carry everything I need on a daily basis without me having to worry about if the straps are going to snap!

7. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter (here)
I've truly fallen in love with this lipstick. Lip butter. Chapstick? I'm not confident on how to categories this type of lip product but it really conquers all. For one, the consistency doesn't dry out your lips! It keeps them smooth and even slightly moisturizes them lasting you all day without the upkeep of gloss, vaseline and then reapplication. I've been digging orange lately on those days when my makeup routine is lagging. It really makes you face pop when my foundation and eye routine has fallen by the wayside.

8. iPad mini (here)
My handy dandy iPad, what would I do without you? I love carrying my iPad around. I always keep my iPad in my bag for those hectic running-out-the-door kind of mornings. On days that I forget to pack my laptop my iPad comes in handy and it's also great to have for waiting room occupation! If you're debating buying one of these "unnecessary luxury items" I would absolutely recommend it. I've gotten so much more use out of this than I expected and the size and weight is convenient for taking it everywhere.

What are your busy day Go-To's?

Water! Water! Water!

One of my New Year's resolutions was to drink more water. I find when I start to get busy I just forget to drink water! I'm working on trying to keep a bottle on me at all times. There are so many amazing benefits to drinking water and and you can never get enough H20!

1. Increases Energy
Water is a natural energizer! It helps you to be more alert as well as focus and concentrate better. I actually find that when I keep a bottle of water with me in the classroom, taking little drinks throughout the hour keeps me less distracted in class. Try it!

2. Promotes Weight Loss
Bing Bing Bing! Here we are ladies. Water removes hunger and eating intake. Fill up your tummy before meals and you'll have less of an urge to fill up on other foods. Water also removes the by-products of fat and raises your metabolism with zero calories!

3. Boosts Your Immune System
Drinking 8 glasses a day helps fight off infections like the flu or other larger ailments down the road. When you are feeling under the weather water will perk you up in no time. It is also a natural remedy to   headaches!

4. Improves Skin Complexion
This is the first thing I see the effects of when I stop drinking a lot of water. Water keeps your skin fresh, smooth and glowing. It also helps prevent wrinkles!

5. Water Puts You in a Good Mood!
When you're body is functioning at it's best you'll feel great! Give your body the best and reap the amazing benefits!

As I was looking around the internet I stumbled across some pretty awesome water bottles! These stylish accessories give you no choice but to carry them around with you!

Get your 8 a day!

Can you go Computer-less?

So last week my computer charger split in two! Right where the thinner cord comes out of the square part on the Mac charger. Sorry for the un-official terms but to get to the point, it just split! And as soon as it did, my laptop could no longer charge within a day. Let me tell you, this was such an inconvenience! I always thought that Mac's had the longest battery life until I had nothing to charge it up again! For a solid 4 days I was having to borrow friends' chargers, moving to do work beside them or using their chargers when they were done for the day and going to bed! Finally, I squeezed in an appointment at the Apple store in hopes to regain control over my work schedule!

Unfortunately they weren't able to give me a new cord. Apparently chargers aren't covered under Apple-Care? Fine. But they did give me a discount since I came in to see them so I'll take that.

Once I got back and charged up my Mac once again I was good to go but those few days really showed me how surprisingly dependent I am on my computer. I feel like I'm so far behind on work because quite everything, is accomplished on my Mac. Emails, papers, articles, online homework, online banking, social media, blog posts! They all require my computer!

I'm not really sure how I feel about my whole life being tied to this new electronic world but it really did shock me how much I'm on my computer all day. I need to start learning how to space out my computer time. Not only can my Mac become a black hole of time but I also get massive headaches after staring at the screen for too long! I think it would be good to go back to physical textbooks and handwriting outlines for papers, give my eyes a rest and learn to focus outside of an electronic workspace. The computer can really become a distraction at times and although it is so necessary in my day-to-day life I don't like feeling that dependence on an inanimate object.

I think I'm going to start challenging myself to unplug for a day. Turn off my computer on a Saturday and simply detox. It can't be good to constantly be tuned into the world wide web and entranced by that glaring screen. I am so so thankful to have a working charger again but I really wouldn't mind spending a little less time with my inevitable Apple friend.

Can you go without your computer for a day?

It's Formal Weekend!

This weekend is formal weekend for my sorority. Two formals, Friday night and Saturday, which means a multitude of things but mainly some pretty sore feet. I am a firm believer that you can't dance your best with blisters on your feet and my secret to dancing the night away is this:

For dinner and the pre-party I wear my best heels. Those ones that match your dress perfectly and make your legs look a million miles long. Take your pictures in them and then toss them away. Dancing all night in some killer heels may seem like a great idea but for me all I get are just some killer blisters! My trick is this. Right before I head out to go to the formal venue I grab my flats. I have these perfectly worn in pair of J.Crew black flats that I always throw on. They are my most comfortable shoes and in those dark venues, people aren't even looking at what you have on your feet!

Put on your dancing shoes

I'm currently looking around for a new pair of formal flats that will keep me looking great but let me dance all night long. I'm truly lusting after those J.Crew Lillian wedges. They do have a little bit of a heel on them but they still look so comfortable, not to mention those Seychelles Home Sweet Home flats. Oh girl.

So find your dancing shoes and have a killer night!

Happy feet happy girl,

Friday Finds! Happy in Memphis

Today's Friday Find comes from right here in the 901!

To begin with, I am totally obsessed with Pharell's "Happy". The song just gets me in an upbeat mood and I'm dancing around all day. A school from Memphis put their own spin on the tune, highlighting some of my favorite places around the city and boy this little guy is cute!

With the sun shining and the grass finally becoming green, this song is the perfect way to end the week!

Happy Happy Happy,

Spring has sprung!

Finally! Spring is here. The weather is slowly warming up and I am happy to say that I am in shorts today! Spring is definitely my favorite season. A cool breeze, blooming flowers and a glass of sweet tea is an absolutely perfect day. Blogging outside is another plus!

Spring Staples

Apart from the great weather, and generally more upbeat days, brighter clothes are right up my alley. Dust off those hot pink shorts that have been tucked away in your closet and drag out those lime green flats. Spring is the perfect excuse to mix some bold colors and prints!

These are some of the items I'm lusting over from J.Crew, Madewell and Gap. Some solid staple pieces can really go a long way and I truly consider stripes to be a neutral. Spring is here to stay and I'm loving it.

Feelin springy,

Hump Day is here!

T.G.I.H.D. Is that a thing? I'm not sure but I'm making it one.

I don't know why but this week has already been a complete whirlwind. Maybe because I've been thrown back into the swing of things after a week of no schedules, no assignments and no cafeteria food or maybe because it's simply a busy week, either way, it's been crazy. I am already feeling overwhelmed and this is not how I should be feeling two days after a break. I was hoping to come back feeling rested and revitalized, ready to tackle this second half of the semester head on but I'm feeling like it just tackled me.

After feeling lost for the first two days of this week and more importantly being completely unproductive it is now time to regroup. Chill, Emily. I talked about my need to relax and simply breathe in one of my recent posts [here] and these are the times when I really need to work on this.

Last night, well after I finished all of my work it was technically this morning, I took a minute to just sit. I've got a lot on my plate for the rest of this week and it was a good chance for me to lay out all that needs to get done. I think the main reason why Monday and Tuesday seemed so hectic was because I hadn't prepared myself for it. I didn't realize I had all of this work that was going to be pushed onto my plate and I didn't have time to plan and prioritize. By giving myself that little bit of time right before I went to bed I allowed myself to take a breathe and visualize what was going to be coming up the next few days and you know what, it's totally doable. Phew. Take a breath. I got this.

Now with hump day it's smooth sailing, or at least all downhill from here! If you're feeling stressed at all today take some time to sit down and just breathe. The work will get done, it's not worth feeling frazzled! So T.G.I.H.D! Let's enjoy this Wednesday!

Turning this week around,

Time to Start Saving!

So I'm going to be blunt: saving money is such a challenge for me.

I think most of this stems from my obsession with clothes, and shoes, and necklaces and scarves… you catch my drift? I'm not the person who completely splurges when shopping. I do a good job at saving money for true investments in my wardrobe such as such as a good pair of jeans, a nice button down or a trench. However, my problem is in the little things. I'm particularly talking about sales. They are both a blessing and a curse. If I see a $40 dress that was originally $200 I feel almost obligated to buy it! Sure, it's a great deal but would I have spent that $40 on the dress if it wasn't originally so expensive? I find that sales produce more impulse shopping than anything. Don't even get me talking about online sales! Impulse shopping is where my difficulty with saving comes from and I'm devoting the rest of March to stopping this problem in it's tracks.

As a college girl on a budget saving money is becoming increasingly important to me as I start to think about moving to a house after graduation, paying off student loans and investing in my future. I've written a list of tips that I'm going to start focusing on in order to protect my piggy bank!

1. Hide the Card!
Put away that credit card! Using only cash puts a set limit on the amount that you can be spending and it also cuts off those impulsive online shopping purchases. Even better, when you set out to go to the grocery, taking only what you need prevents you from grabbing that unnecessary chapstick at the check out line!

2. Plan Your Outings
Plan what you're going to be doing for the week. Are you going to be eating out with your girlfriends on Friday night? If so, skip the Starbucks line today! Plan ahead for when you're going to be spending and you won't be pinching at your pocket when the waiter hands you the check!

4. Make a List!
Keep an ongoing list of lust items. Maybe it's that new NARS blush or those new espadrilles at J.Crew but keep these items written down and then begin to prioritize them. If you need a new phone charger, put this above a new pair of sunnies. Keeping everything written down on paper is a great way to see exactly what you're going to be spending and helps you to prioritize!

5. Want or Need?
This point is especially for the ever-enticing sale shopping. When you come across an item think to yourself "Do I want this or do I need this"? There's a difference between buying two-for-one shampoo on sale and a bright patterned scarf that's half off. Don't throw your saving skills out the window just because there's a good deal. If you weren't planning on buying the item in the first place, it's price really shouldn't matter!

6. Make Recycling Fun!
Get over the "I don't have anything to wear" thing because girl, you totally do. Look at those two closets staring back at you and try to convince me that there is absolutely nothing fabulous in there. Use these weeks of saving to challenge yourself! Mix and match things you've never worn together before. Play up pattern mixing and you might come to find some adorable options you had never even thought about!

7. Challenge Yourself to a Timeline!
I've decided that the rest of March I am going to spend absolutely nothing on unnecessary items. I'll go to the grocery and get my food, I'll pick up prescriptions and I'll buy gas but I won't go to Target and pick up that new blush that I wanted to test out and I am for sure not walking into J.Crew. I'm going to start with baby steps and then I'm going to tackle a whole month!

Time to start protecting my piggy!

What to Wear on Saint Patrick's Day!

It's always tricky dressing for holidays. Saint Patrick's Day falls into the category of days like Valentines Day and July 4th, all the holidays where people are expected to wear festive colors. When trying to stay in the spirit and dress for these days of celebration it's often hard to find the balance between dressing festively without being, well, tacky.

St. Patty's Day separates the ladies from the girls.

There's a difference between that girl at the office who has saved her green dress for today or the girl that got her green crops dry cleaned for the occasion and the girl that's got that subtle piece of green worked into her outfit. There's something chic and whimsical about a pop of holiday color in a belt or some rockin' shoes. Dressing for these holidays is all about picking your accessories. If anything I think these are the days when you choose not to wear that green dress or that heart patterned shirt or that red, white and blue striped skirt that you just bought. We try not to blend in every other day so why should today be the same? I'm not about being pinched but I'm still about looking chic.

I put together some green accessories to keep you looking festive and fashionable! Slide some Hunters on for a rainy day or grab your trusty Kate Spade bag before you head out the door! St. Patty's Day is a time to show your inner style master and how creative you can really get with your outfits!

Make me proud ladies!

A Highway Day Ahead

So today I'm heading back to Memphis to finish off my sophomore year of college. Gulp. That sounds really scary. Gosh I can't believe it's over halfway done! This break flew by but I am so thankful that I got to spend some time at home for a few days. However, the worst part about breaks ending is the drive back to school. Yuck, not looking forward to this but I've got my goldfish and gummy bears to keep me company!

I put together a mix that's going to get me through the first couple hours of my drive. Especially when highway driving, music is critical!

First of all, music helps me get over the initial few hours of homesickness as I'm driving away. I'm really an independent person. I wanted to go to college 6 hours away from home for a reason but I still hate saying goodbye. I always have a tough time leaving my parents and the goodbye with my long distance boyfriend is unbearable but I can handle it. I just need some sunglasses and some happy tunes to get me through.

Secondly, music keeps me awake! Hours on the highway is truly mind-numbing. In the car I need something upbeat that I can dance to and belt out lyrics. It's totally embarrassing but I do enjoy these secret jam sessions. Anything that can keep me awake and alert is important!

I'm getting ready to head out so I guess I'll see you on the other side!

All packed and ready to go,

The Value in Tailoring Your Clothes

Seeing as I have now visited the tailor twice in two days I figured I would do a post on it. It might seem a little ridiculous to spend so much money on clothes after you already bought them but I think it is truly worth the extra money. I am a firm believer in the powers of a tailor. I'm totally guilty of buying a dress that doesn't fit completely right, assuring myself in the store that I'm going to wear it, and then it hangs in my closet for a year with the tags on it.

This, is where the tailor comes in.

For me, I've starting thinking of clothes as an investment. Especially when we're talking about staple pieces such as a dress shirt, a nice pair of slacks or a little black dress. These are the things that need to fit perfectly. Nothing can ruin an outfit more than pants that are dragging the ground but on the other hand, nothing can make you look better than a perfectly tailored dress.

Stores make their clothes to fit an average body form around a particular size and those sizes fitting perfectly are hardly ever going to happen. There are only a few stores where the size completely fits me and as a girl that's 5'4", pants inevitably are too long. My favorite pair of J.Crew chinos were hemmed 5 inches! On the plus side J.Crew has free tailoring so why skip on the offer?!

I got a sewing machine two Christmas' ago but unfortunately, and disappointingly, I haven't gotten the time to really sit down and master it. Until I get to the point where I can easily fix a zipper or quickly hem a pant I'm going to be dropping them off with Inta (my red-haired Russian tailor). She really is awesome. On the other hand, there are things I know that I will never be comfortable doing such as taking in a blouse in the back or even raising the waistline on a dress.

I've tried out a few tailors around my city and finally found my favorite. I truly think she does the best work in town but also at such a reasonable price! I tried to find some estimated prices on how much some basic tailoring costs and I think it really is worth the extra money.

If you're looking for places to go I would recommend word of mouth. Google is great but I really trust my girlfriends more than some of the anonymous posters on Yelp. I would also recommend to try a few out, search around for the best prices and really see which one is doing the best work for you. Also, don't forget to ask around at the stores where you buy your clothes. If you're a J.Crew card holder you get free tailoring with your purchases! You better believe I get my money's worth out of that!

Investing in clothes should be seen as investing in yourself, so why not give yourself the best?!

Currently wearing altered pants,
